The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) is an international development organization working on rural development issues since the 1960s. Headquartered in the Philippines, its mandate is to help address poverty, hunger, and related issues of community development and local governance. IIRR has been espousing Community-Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR), while incorporating Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), aimed at building communities resilient to increasing disaster risks and adaptable to climate change. IIRR’s CMDRR work includes providing trainings and courses for development and humanitarian workers and implementing programs aimed at developing the knowledge and skills of partners and other development actors to facilitate CMDRR. This has been successfully done in a number of areas in Asia and Africa.
Give2Asia works with corporations, foundations, and families to fund charitable projects and social enterprises. Its local expertise and regional focus help build strong relationships between funders and recipients in 25 countries. Give2Asia makes it possible for donors to support local organizations in Asia addressing critical issues such as healthcare, education, livelihood, and the environment. It builds long-term connections between donors and local programs in Asia by fostering trust and accountability on both sides of the relationship. Give2Asia has a team of local staff, advisors, and partners that ensure projects are effective, results are transparent, and grant recipients are accountable. They report on activities to certify that projects meet the needs of the target beneficiaries and the donor, and try to find new ways to expand sources of funding.
The Humanitarian Leadership Academy Philippines (The Academy) is a global learning initiative set up to facilitate partnerships and collaborative opportunities to enable people to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. It was born out of a need to respond to disaster and crises more efficiently and effectively in areas around the world that need it most. The Academy supports the needs of individuals, organisations, and communities by facilitating access to learning resources, platforms, and tools to enable locally relevant capacity sharing and mutual learning. It works with partners across the humanitarian sector and beyond; from technology companies to universities; local communities to multinational corporations, drawing on the knowledge, expertise and resources of a range of organisations to ensure the best solutions are found for those most in need.
